Below you will find some information on what you can expect from us during your time with Step Ahead Services.
Being offered a placement
We do everything we can to try and find you a placement that meets your needs e.g. close to college/work, near family/friends and with other residents we hope you will be able to relate to.
moving in
When you move in, you will be shown around your new home and will be introduced to the other residents. We often hold house meetings where everyone can get together to introduce themselves. You will be shown how to use all the facilities in the building and we will let you know who to talk to if you have any questions or problems.
meeting your key worker
We will offer you a key worker we hope you will be comfortable with. He or she will talk you through your welcome pack. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and to let us know how we can best support you.
independence support
We offer all our young people emotional and physical support and we work with you on any individual challenges you might be facing. Each week your key worker will meet with you and he or she may also suggest you work with other agencies who can provide you with more specialist support. Your key worker will help you come up with individual targets and goals. At all times we work at a pace that you feel comfortable with, agreeing small, achievable steps and taking onboard your views, opinions and ideas. We value your suggestions. This forms an integral part of our service to you.

Moving on
We always remain focused on the goal of trying to help you feel sufficiently confident and able to live independently. When the time comes for you to move on, we will put a plan in place to help you achieve this. You won’t be expected to do this on your own as we know this could feel very daunting. We will be with you every step of the way.
